How to Properly Apply Your Natural Skincare Products
Do you ever wonder if your products are giving you the results you want? For some, it may be because they’re not layering them over their other skincare products in the proper sequence. Applying your natural skincare products in order will make a big difference to your skin. If you fail to follow the correct sequence, you’re most likely compromising the overall effectiveness of your routine. But most of all, you’re simply wasting your money. We’re going to reveal what, when, and how you should apply your products.
Morning
1.Cleanse
Some people think they can skip their morning cleanse because there's no dirt coming in contact with their skin while they sleep. Splashing your face with water is a big mistake. Even the best skincare products won't work if debris or oil is on the skin.
Think about this. You produce about 10 grams of dead skin cells per week. Since you spend one third of your time in bed, you could infer that about one third of those skin cells will come off while you are in bed. That means every night your bed is collecting about 300,000 dead skin cells. Do you really want some of those dead skin cells to sit on your face before you begin your routine? I think you know the answer.
2.Tone
Toners calm the skin and provide an additional layer of hydration to prep the skin for makeup. Those with acneic and/or oily skin will benefit most from using a toner since they're formulated to remove sebum, oil, and dirt from the pores. If you don't have oily or acneic skin, treat toner as you would a face mist or facial wipe. They can be especially convenient for use while traveling or refreshing skin on a hot, summer day without ruining your makeup.
Keep a toner in your gym bag, or in your purse, and keep one at work for an instant hydrating complexion boost that saves you from taking five minutes to 'freshen up' your skin.
3.Apply Eye Cream
After toning your face, hydrate the delicate under-eye area while keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay with Pure Fiji’s Anti-Wrinkle Eye Creme promises to naturally smooth fine lines and fortify delicate skin around the eyes for noticeably younger-looking eyes. Use it twice a day.
4.Booster
Serums are boosters and they are applied after your toner and before your moisturizer. Vitamin C serum is one of the best to use for morning since it provides skin-protection and anti-aging antioxidants. Vitamin C smoothes the skin's texture to help support and prevent signs of aging. Your serum should be full of botanical oils and antioxidants, lightweight yet include powerful hydration properties as a primary benefit. The potent blend of good-for-skin ingredients is subsequently why serums are usually the most expensive part of a skincare routine.
What people may not realize is that vitamin C is a very unstable ingredient, meaning it is carefully formulated to keep it as potent as possible. When applying your serums, the average time to wait before adding your moisturizer is somewhere between 1-2 minutes.
Another great serum are those that are hyaluronic acid-based like Pure Fiji’s Hyaluronic Booster. They should be applied on slightly damp skin straight after cleansing/toning as they draw in moisture like a sponge. However, not allowing a few seconds for the serum to absorb afterwards could jeopardize the rest of your routine. Pilling is when products are layered on top of one another and build up so much that little balls of product are formed on your face. This means the product is not being absorbed into the skin. It’s not only a waste of a good product, but it also means the benefits of your skincare routine aren’t being delivered.
5.Moisturize
After serum, apply moisturizer to keep your skin balanced, hydrated, and plump. For people with dry skin, reach for a thick moisturizing cream. For those with oily skin, try a lighter gel moisturizer.
6.Spread on Sunscreen
The final step to a well-ordered skincare routine is sunscreen (of course). It's the best for preventing signs of aging—especially hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles.
Sunscreen should go after moisturizer and before makeup. Wait a minute between your moisturizer and sunscreen so you allow each to penetrate into your skin. It would not be ideal to put SPF under a lotion or cream moisturizer because, by nature, SPF products block sun's rays (and anything else) from absorbing into the skin.
Night Time
1.Cleanse
In addition to cleansing your face, consider taking a shower at night too. Plus, our beds should never be in contact with any of the clothes that we wore outside, or our skin too which could be covered with everything from being outside (i.e. dust, bacteria and free radicals). Before you sleep, take a cool shower with our Coconut Milk Shower Gel that will lower your body temperature and it can make it easier to doze off into a sound slumber.
2.Tone
If you want to keep your skin balanced a toner is non-negotiable. There's a science to it. Your skin’s normal pH level is between 4.6 and 6.4, making it slightly acidic. We think you’ll absolutely love our Vitamin C Brightening Toning Mist. This is really a magical product. There are so many benefits:
- Boosts hydration
- Brightens skin
- Balances excess oil production
- Skin and make-up refresher
- Smooths fine lines and wrinkles
- Minimizes pores
- Stimulates collagen
- Combats dry skin
- Protects against free radicals
3.Serum
A serum isn't the only treatment you should use to aid your skin. On nights when you have more time why not treat your skin with a masque. We have two options based on your skin concerns. If you want to brighten your skin our Pure Vitamin C Masque is perfect. If you want exfoliation to help lighten your age spots, then your go to product is our Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque. You can even use masks to target your lips.
4.Night Creams
While you can certainly use your day moisturizer at night, night creams are typically heavier than day creams and contain active ingredients and anti-aging benefits to renew the skin while you sleep.
Luckily you don’t have to use harsh, irritating ingredients to effectively stave off and diminish signs of aging like wrinkles Pure Fiji’s new regenerative night crème which feeds your skin with the advanced technology of anti-aging ingredients. Powerful ingredients work all night to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while strengthening and hydrating skin. Wake up to skin that looks replenished, restored, and renewed. You should also use an eye cream after cleansing and toning.
Summary
You don’t need a 12-step routine to have gorgeous, healthy skin. Remember that this is just a starting point that can and should be tweaked and customized according to your complexion's needs. What works perfectly for your skin may not for someone else and vice versa. Finding your ideal daily routine can take trial and error, but these are the right tools and natural skincare products can get you on your way to healthy, glowing skin.>
